Hospital Administrator Mark Chustz and Doctor Arnaldo Sanchez are shown here at the Greene County Hospital’s Physician Clinic. Dr. Sanchez said he is excited about his new practice in Eutaw.
Dr. Arnaldo Sanchez, a doctor of internal medicine, has joined the staff at the Greene County Physicians Clinic.
Dr. Sanchez is a native of Cuba who did his undergraduate work at the University of Miami and the University of Minnesota. He is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
He went to medical school at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and did his residency in Fort Lauderdale Brower General Medical Center.
He came to Eutaw through a National Health Service Corporation Scholarship, which is based on academics and community service.
“I was given a list of all the locations where I could practice medicine. I was invited by Mark (hospital administrator Mark Chustz) to come here. They were in need of a physician, so I came down here and fell in love.”
Sanchez said he was looking for something smaller than the areas in which he had practiced and he could tell that the people of Greene County were in need of a doctor with his specialities.
“I like the Southern hospitality. Everyone is so helpful. There is a large underserved population here and I like to help people.”
Sanchez said that one of his plans for his future here in Greene County is to start some educational programs in the community. “This will help people by knowing when to seek medical help – what to look for, and also help the doctors because the patients will be more aware of what is wrong with them.”
Sanchez said that he not only treats acute conditions but also chronic conditions.
“Compared to a general practitioner, a doctor of internal medicine has a little bit higher level of training,” he said.
Dr. Sanchez can be seen at the Greene County Physicians’ Clinic during their regular hours.
