Receiving bingo checks for the various entities are Minnie Batch, Sheriff Jonathan Benison, Louise Harkness, Union City Councilwoman; Ernestine Wade, Boligee City Councilwoman, Eutaw Police Chief Derrick Coleman, Greene County Board of Education CFO Shane Martin and Brenda Burke for the Greene County Commission.

On  Tuesday, March 20, Sheriff Jonathan Benison  distributed  the bingo checks  for the  month of February. A grand total of $143,036.87 was distributed.

Each entity gets a set amount  of money from each bingo machine in the  two currantly operating  bingo sites. Greene County Commission  receives $95 per machine; Greene Co. Sheriff – $35;  City of Eutaw – $20;  Cities of Forkland, Boligee and  Union – $10 per machine per City.

In addition, according to Benison,  “After months of arm twisting, I was able to finally collect all the  fees owed by Frontier Bingo, which was  closed last May by a raid initiated by the Alabama Attorney General. These fees are being distributed with the February 2012 allocations to all agencies that receive bingo payments.”

Totals received by entities were Greene Co. Commission – $72,775.00; Greene Co. Sheriff – $26,951.18; City of Eutaw- $14,906.89; Cities of Forkland, Union and Boligee – $6.095.52 each; Greene County Board of Education- $10,117.24.

Only Greene Bingo gave a contribution to the Greene County Board of Education. On February 1, 2012, Benison had announced that the BOE would receive $45 per machine and other recipients would get cuts in the amount per machine to provide this money for the school board.
