Greene County High School will host the Class 4A, Area 7 Boys Basketball Tournament February 10 and 13.

On Friday, Feb. 10th, in Boys Basketball, Holt High School will play Sumter Central High School beginning at 6 p.m. Beginning at 7 p.m Greene County High School will play West Blocton.

The winners of these two games will play at Greene County High School  for the Area 7 Championship on Monday,  February 13 beginning at 7 p.m.

Sumter Central High School will host the Class 4A, Area 7  Girls Basketball Tournament.

On February 9th, Holt High School will play Greene County High School beginning at 6 p..m.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Sumter Central Girls team will play West Blocton.

The winners of these two games will play for the Area 7 Girls Champtionship  on Saturday  beginning at 7 p.m. at Sumter Central High School.

The Greene County High School Boys Basketball Team won the 3A State Championship in 2010. Previous to that the last time the boys basketball team brought home the championship crown in 2005.

In 2010, the entire county turned out to celebrate the momenteous victory because the team had beaten Madison Academy 62-44 to win the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A State Championship. The community participated in securing championship rings for team members and coaches.
