 New Voting Equipment

Greene County Probate Judge Earlean Isaac has acquired new voting equipment for the upcoming election on Tuesday, March 13.

“After the last election,” said Isaac, “I had a lot of complaints of insufficient parking places at three places in particular – the National Guard Armory, the Eutaw Activity Center and Forkland Town Hall.

‘I contacted the state and through a State of Alabama HAVA (Help America Vote Act) Grant I was able to purchase both new voting booths and signs designating voter parking. I will have at least two or three parking places at each voting place marked “voter parking.”

According to Isaac, each voting unit will have four units and offer complete privacy for the voter. Of the four units, one is designed for the handicapped. At the larger precincts, there will be two four-unit voter units.

Isaac said that Forkland already has a voting booth, but the other  voting places do not have them yet.

“Depending on how much money we get from the state and other sources, we plan future upgrade in the voting process,” said Isaac.
